Brief

What started as a weekend Hackathon in Kuala Lumpur has turned into the first round of investment and a real-life project.

Inkling is an app used to scan makeup products in-store, and by way of text detection and recognition, return a feed of influencers wearing the product.  The real-world problem we’re tackling is to make the make-up buying process a bit less daunting, as its such a saturated market. The key here is to not feel as though we’ve added another step to the buying process, so the UX of the entire app is quite simple to pull out, snap a photo and get image returns.

As we started building the app we realized that it may be difficult to get the initial users, so we’ve decided to also implement a facial recognition feature that pulls your skin tone to only return content of people who resemble you.  This has the potential to be a fun viral feature where the user wants to know which influencers they look most like.

We aim to generate income via Amazon sells.
